Internship Summary:

The Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and executing strategic marketing plans for the Will Group’s entire organization, and client companies associated with The Will Group (TWiG Technologies, TWG Infrastructure Solutions of Illinois, Electrical Resource Management, Lyons View Manufacturer & Supply, and Industrial Electric Supply) in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones.

The Marketing Intern will work closely with our Marketing Director and Marketing Coordinator to create, and implement digital marketing, communications, and advertising. The Marketing Intern is responsible for monitoring the development of marketing support collateral (social media, website, 1 pagers, advertisements, etc.) and ensuring that all deadlines are met.

Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter, highly professional and have extraordinary communication skills and be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure deadlines are met.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support and execution of marketing campaigns, including sourcing, outreach, coordination, and creating content calendars.
  • Support and execution of social media marketing campaigns, including creating content calendars, writing social media posts, publishing content, and reactively/proactively engaging with our target audiences.
  • Support and execution of creating content for and co- managing The Will Group's social accounts.
  • Supports Marketing Director and the larger team in various verticals of a communications agency including, but not limited to, event planning, creative brand positioning, web and graphic design, digital marketing, and company operations.
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns.
  • Perform market analysis and research on competition.
  • Support the marketing team in daily administrative tasks.
  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail and web).
  • Maintains relations with customers by organizing and developing specific customer- relations programs, determining company presence at conventions, trade associations, and seminars.
  • Provides short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by directing market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data to ensure work being done is satisfactory to executive leadership.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assists all stakeholders and subcontractors through the RFP/Proposal and Bid Process.

  • The ideal candidate:
    • Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment, views public relations, marketing, advertising, or integrated communications as a potential career, and has completed or is on track to complete a bachelor’s degree.
    • Is creative, interested in exploring the world of emerging smart cities technologies, and willing to work hard in an innovative environment.
    • Is self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment, as well as individually.
    • Has familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.
    • Has experience with marketing software (Salesforce, Constant Contact, Adobe suite, Canva, SquareSpace and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, PPT). *HTML and CSS is a bonus.
    • Has subject matter expertise with all and upcoming social media platforms.
    • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must have a passion for marketing and marketing technologies.
    • Must be able to multitask and handle competing priorities.
    • Must have an intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels.
    • Has the ability to think creatively and innovatively.
    • Has professional judgment and discretion.
    • Has analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.
    • Has knowledge of proposal and bid writing, or willingness to learn.
    • Has the ability to maintain a high level of social, organizational, and professional standards.

Education Qualifications:

  • Must be an incoming Junior or Senior majoring in Marketing or a similar field or graduating in May with a degree in Marketing or a similar field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given work location.
